Can any one tell me how to safeguard any personal PC from hacking. Few times firewalls even fail to stop hacking. Hackers breach the firewall and hack the system. How to safegaurd our PC from such people?

Hi SZ,

I think that "key" answer is in proper Firewall configuration. or you have installed some Trojan which was pass through your Firewall defense.  Wink

Which Firewall version you use??

Did you Scan your PC with some Online AV: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,734.0.html

Make sure you have an Admin user account and a Normal user account.  Stay logged in as the normal user unless you are installing software or messing with the settings.   A lot of malware / virus' require an Admin account for proper infection and propagation.

Do you have an old PC sitting around collecting dust? You should consider turning it into a hardware firewall instead of using a software one.

I have smoothwall (http://www.smoothwall.org/) configured on my old Pentium 3 850 Mhz | 384MB RAM | 13GB HDD |  and it works like a charm  Smiley

My software never has bugs. It just develops random features. Tongue

Hello, good care mainly depends on the user know where it moves in the network, so it is essential to have a good firewall I use IPcop in a PentiumII with 128 MB RAM and 10 GB hdd, also you must use an account user and administrator have always protected.

Buy a router that has a hardware firewall and don't leave ports open.  Everything else a good antivirus will take care of.
