Hi dennyk and Welcome to SCF Community.

Related to your question, I suspect that this error is some trace of Vundo malware "infection" but I'm not sure.

Anyway, don't worry we will help to your friend to fix this, now please:

1. Scan that PC with BitDefender or Panda Online AntiVirus Scan: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,734.0.html

2. Download & run HijackThis: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,785.0.html

3. Provide us logs from HijackThis & AntiVirus Online Scan

I'll wait your reply (with logs).

Regards,

Samker

dennyk, in addition to what Samker suggested, I would advice to download the following and scan ur system using them. Remember to update them before scanning:

1. SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner (does not requires installation)
http://www.superantispyware.com/sasportable.php

2. Hitman Pro 3 3.5.6.112
http://download.cnet.com/Hitman-Pro-3/3000-2239_4-10895604.html

Please post the results.

Thanks,
