Instructions how to upgrade Windows 7 over the RC or Beta version
« Reply #1 on: 28. February 2011., 19:39:55 »
Hi pal.

Here's the procedure (for 1st. try): ;)

   1. Download (make) the ISO and burn them to a DVD.

   2. Copy the whole image to a storage location you wish to run the upgrade from (a bootable flash drive or a directory on any partition on the machine running the pre-release build).

   3. Browse to the sources directory.

   4. Open the file cversion.ini in a text editor like Notepad.

   5. Modify the MinClient build number to a value lower than the down-level build. For example, change 7100 to 7000 (pictured below).

   6. Save the file in place with the same name.

   7. Run setup like you would normally from this modified copy of the image and the version check will be bypassed.

Please, provide us info did you (also) success with this instructions or maybe need additional help?

cya,

S.

P.S.

Don't forget to, before anything, make backup! Just in case...

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) contains many updates to improve Windows 7, but if you encounter a problem with hardware or a program after installing the service pack, you might want to temporarily uninstall it to troubleshoot the problem.
