I have Ubuntu studio AMD-64 ver. 10.10 just installed last night. I am running a Compaq SR1650nx "Presario" with an AMD 64.

I need to install Avast now and I am a little stumped. I am very NEW to Linux. So this has been a learning experience.

Can anyone help and show me the best way to get avast working?

Now if I could only get my sound card working.....

Hi Malmoussy and Welcome to SCF Community.

Here you have detailed explanation, "Installation Avast Home for Linux on 64bit architecture": https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=313

For the start please download latest version of Avast for Linux from here: http://www.avast.com/linux-home-edition#tab4 (*To get your key, you'll need to use the registration form.)

After that try again to install them, if you still experience problem provide us Error Code/Message.

We'll wait your reply.

By the way, here is also one great FREE AV for Linux, "Clam": http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,5809.0.html
