Microsoft Security Essential was able to detect and remove when eicar.com file was clicked and before save was tapped. CA eTrust did not see it coming even though the real-time protection module was up and running on the same PC.

Handy site if you want to test if a file actually contains a virus...and you want to test it against all the major vendors: http://www.virustotal.com/

Now i'm some confued !
What all fuz about that EICAR is working !!!
EICAR is a standard test string that have been used in ages. If a AntiVirus do not detect it you probebly do not have a AntiVirus installed or not configured in the system! Or worse you have got a trojan or rootkit on your system that make your AntiVirus use less.

Their is two easy way to configure a system!
Every thing open and every thing closed.
Every thing else is more or less complex.
