But seriously: explain why not. There is not a good reason. And all my friends that listen to my combo-advises, stay virus free. For real. So... What else is there to want? Speed? Avast is one of the leanest AV's!

Avast is great.  I have been using this AV on win xp, vista, win 7 (32bit/64bit).  Not a resource hogger compared to other AV solutions.  Avast also has free home edition and works very well.  No av solution is 100% but keeping your computer patched up will great assist.
