I would like to add that it is best to restrict viewing permissions on the accounts: only friends or family can see your profile. (or it only has limited information)

Also make sure to hide your email address on such websites, as they are daily crawled by (spam)bots.

Hi C..

It's possible that MySpace & Yahoo could be dangerous. In my opinion there is few types of risk and few basic rules:

- Never provide certain types of information: SSN, phone number, address, and information such as that.

- Never click on links provided from strangers, in some cases you can also receive bad links from friend if it PC is infected with some types of worms etc.

- Always take care what kids do on social sites because of: unsuitable written content & images, Predators (pedophiles), unsuitable friends...

That's all what I now have on my mind...

Hope this is helpful for you?

Regards,

Samker

I have been wanting get with other people and ask for a consensus.  My wife likes to use yahoo messenger and myspace for online chatting. So far I have seen no problems with this as a security issue.  Are these sites safe?  I notice she gets spammed alot now but other than that we have not had any issues.  I do not want to sound paranoid but I had heard the live chat sites can be dangerous.  Any comments would be apperciated.
