Hi, having issues with 8.5i patch 8 not updating on a scheduled basis. Does anyone else have this issue? Update okay manually. TTried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing! Any help would be appreciated .

Hi HISNA,

I think you may not have noticed that scheduled update for McAfee runs without showing the User Interface Window rather it runs silently in the background.  Try checking the "LOG" that is, RIGHT CLICK on AutoUpdate > View Log.

I've had this problem from 8.0i to 8.7i, sometimes it updates on its own... sometimes it doesn't.  I'm not sure why, but a quick solution is to simply download the sdat.  Usually it's because I don't wait long enough for it to update itself.

Hi splur,

Try checking your time zone synchronization, sometimes your system's time are altered from the time you connect to your domain server.

GC

Hi Samker,
I have checked that the Services, Mcafree framework and Mcshield Service are running (using Task Manager). The laptop is a Toshiba Equium running XP. I have tried uninstalling it but it does not make any difference. I have another PC running XP and it seems OK. I will try and get the error message when I try to download the latest DAT file.

Thanks
Martin

Hi Martin,

http://mvt.mcafee.com/mvt/default.asp

After that We will have more info. for resolving this problem.

I have a similar issue with Enterpries 8.5 i . It updates OK on most of my PCs but not on one. I will not update on a manual (Update Now in the Autoupdate window). It does update if I download the sdat file.
Has anyone goe any ideas as to what may cause this?

You can download the Superdat file directly mcafee page, restart you system, sometimes the file is corrupt and probably you have to download again.

Hi H.,

First (I must to ask), did you properly enable Scheduled Updating??

VirusScan Console / AutoUpdate (right click) Properties / Schedule / Enable (check is it Enabled??)

After that look around Scheduled Settings, probably there is a problem.  ;)

Let us know is this help you or We need to find some other possibilities.

cya,

S.
