I was told that the graphics card was too old and outdated and that I should look at one of the GTX200 series

That will explain all this problems...

But, I'll rather first try with some cards from friends.  ;)

Don't change anything just graphics card and try Fallout.

No, I have neither applications installed. I do however have daemon tools installed, I will remove it and see if it helps. I am also trying to overclock now to help, I was told that the graphics card was too old and outdated and that I should look at one of the GTX200 series

Lets try with this...

Do you by any chance have either of these items installed - ASUS GamerOSD and ASUS SmartDoctor? It has been reported that these may conflict with Fallout 3 running on Vista. Is it possible that you might uninstall them and reattempt?

One more things: "According to reports, Fallout 3 won't run on a PC with "recognized" piracy tools installed -- that includes Daemon Tools, Sonic, Roxio and similar software": http://www.destructoid.com/fallout-3-securom-shenanigans-upset-gamers-109603.phtml#

Hope some of this tips will help...??

Thank you, I am running TuneUpUtilities along with many other registry cleaners/optimizers. I also just ran Passmark's Performance Test 7 and got a score of 1344.7. I am not sure if thats of any use but thought I would post it anyway

Hi BF, sorry for delay wit reply... simple a lot of duties at SCF...

Anyway your HJT log is clear. In one way that is good and in another it's bad news... We still don't know why you have that much problems with Fallout.

Did you try to install this game on some PC of yours friends and compare how this game work on some other PC (take a note about differences in configuration like RAM, processor...).

Also my recommendation is to uninstall this Game buster and try Tune Up Utilities (excellent program): http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/

Regards,

S.

It has been along time since I have been able to try fallout 3 again and get back to this post. It seems to be running VERY VERY slow. I had to reinstall xp again last week to solve some other issues. I cant understand what is making it so slow, I close all unnecessary services. Clean registry, keep HDD defragmented, run Game booster. The only security on here at the moment is Comodo Internet Security 3.11 and I disable all its features and then close it. Here is my hijack this log just incase it helps :

Kaspersky is very "heavy" AntiVirus.

Also check that Spybot don't run in background "Tea Timer" protection?

At the time of the issue I was running Kaspersky AV 2010 and spybot s&d (but only the SD helper - bad blocker for web) and peerguardian. Now I have Avira Premium Security Suite and spybot and peer guardian, but I always shut them down and turn off modem before playing.

What kind of AntiSpyware programs you have installed on that PC, Spybot S&D, Windows Defender, Ad-Aware ??

And which AV you use now??

I have been thinking about your problem.  I was wondering what other processes are you running when you are running this game.  If you haven't tried out this autoruns.exe program I have recently spoke about, it might be a good idea.  To give you an idea what this does, it tells you what is currently running on your computer with better discriptions then task manager.  So give it a try, you might be surprised what you find.  You could have some software in the background doing some major processing that you don't need done.  I really don't know the problem you are seeing but maybe this will give you some insight on what your computer is doing.  Also you might consider doing a memory test on the new ram you have put in and on your video card.  I recently build a new system and it kept rebooting on me.  Stuff was laggy as well, come to find out that the video memory was bad so I had to get a new video card.  These are just some troubleshooting ideas to find the problem.  Hope they help.  Good luck in finding the issue.

I finally got to test it out (I have been virus fighting)  and the driver seemed to fix the blue screen of deaths, but the game is still quite slow. Is there any software I can run to see exactly how many fps I get with Fallout 3?

Also how am I able to get my karma higher? and more stars?
