Would you use a smartphone to start your car? The technology now exists, and we found a cool video showing how it's done. Tell us what you think about this.

Siri, the personal assistant app for your iPhone, is supposed to help you manage your busy schedule – from sending text messages to looking up traffic and weather info and more. But it seems that’s just the beginning of the technology’s potential talents.

We’ve stumbled across a video showing Siri remotely starting an Acura TL through its aftermarket Viper “Smart Start” alarm and remote start system. According to the video description:

“The command is sent from Siri to a Viper server; then relayed via cellular connection to the car. The car then broadcasts an update via RF to the key chain remote.”

One could read the above description of how Siri interacts with the Viper alarm and car TWICE in the time it takes from telling Siri to start your car to when it actually does. Although the time delay may be too long if you are trying to leave somewhere quickly, but if you want the car ready for you as you lock the house it may be ready when you get there.

The system is available for all three of the major smartphone platforms, iPhone, BlackBerry and Android, but the voice starting feature only works with the iPhone 4S.

Their is two easy way to configure a system!
Every thing open and every thing closed.
Every thing else is more or less complex.

Yes but the question is how good this is. The time to make it work is longer then use the remotcontrol. And if thay did not have this procedure to test the sender or the phone is stolen how easy is it to also stolen the car in this way. I see many issue that need to considur if thay implement this.
Many new security issus. If this way to start a car is the future we probebly will see more virus makers that focus on apps that is done for steeling cars.
