A leaked image of Motorola's ROKR U9 handset appeared some while ago, revealing an interesting device about which the producer has not mentioned anything until now. Meanwhile, a new photo has appeared, this
time in the press, that really does this phone  good.

The ROKR U9 is not just another music phone, but one with a highly appealing design, one that pulls Motorola out of its tendency of applying the RAZR pattern in all its products. Because of this, it looks fresh and highly appealing, with high chances of being seen so by many people.

The device is derived from Motorola's PEBL mobile phone and comes in some compact but still comfortable sizes. The clamshell has 90 x 48.6 x 16.4 mm and 87.5 grams. It looks incredibly smooth and has an external touch sensitive screen which allows the user to easily manage his playlist, only with the touch.

The QVGA TFT screen is a 262k color one, which will make its display look just as good as its design. Still, this is a music phone, which makes other features more important. ROKR U9 has a 25 MB of built-in memory, but it can be expanded through a microSD card to make sure that the user does not run out of space for storing his songs.

One drawback about this device might be considered the fact that it is not capable of providing 3G services, but can be used in GSM network with GPRS and EDGE connectivity. Official specifications did not come with the press image, although this should arrive with the phone's release.

Motorola has given no hint on their intention to launch the MOTOROKR U9 handset in the near future. When this happens, the handset will have a large number of music phones coming from leading producers to compete with. The number of strong opponents is increasing as days go by, which gives good reason for hurrying things up with this phone's unveiling.
