Casio Introduces 12-Megapixel Compact Camera
« on: 03. June 2007., 13:46:00 »
Casio has introduced its Exilim Zoom EX-Z1200, the new flagship in its Exilim Zoom line of digital point-and-shoot cameras. Coming in mid-July, the new model will cost $399.99.

The tiny camera is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket, measuring 3.6 x 2.3 x .88 inches, but packs a 12.1-megapixel sensor and 3X optical zoom lens. It sports new features including a face detecting auto-tracking auto focus technology and motion analysis technology that provides image stabilization.

The back of the unit is almost entirely occupied by a 2.8-inch LCD viewfinder with a maximum brightness of 1400cd/m2, so you can see images in bright outdoor light. It captures movies using H.264 QuickTime format, and sports 11.4MB of built-in flash memory. It’s also compatible with SDHC, SD, MMC and MMC+ flash media cards.

The EX-Z1200 can capture up to three frames per second at some resolutions, and features a built-in flash and 4x digital zoom. It connects to a Mac or PC using a USB 2.0 cradle, which is included, and charges from a rechargeable lithium ion battery. Casio estimates the battery charge capacity at 340 still images.
