Lavasoft Adaware has received top scores from various independent testing laboratories and its high ratings seem justified. I put together a folder full of known viruses, malware, and adware samples and it successfully identified them during both the quick and full scans.

It was immediately obvious that this is a very comprehensive program. Besides three scanning modes, users are able to tweak the scanning speed to manage impact on system performance.

My suggestion is to install latest version, and use them at least once a month.

Maybe bug or a feature that is only available in pro version?

Probably some false positive detection...

Anyway, right now you have possibility to Winn license for PRO version at SCforum: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,6153.0.html

Good Luck!

Using this tool together with Spybot since a lot of years. Nice tool but some false alerts which Adaware won't remember when I marked as this. Maybe bug or a feature that is only available in pro version?

Probably of the best anti-spyware & anti-adware utility, the updated version of Lavasoft Ad-Aware has been released. The updated version allows for improved detection of adware & malware & effective scanning that makes use of less of your system resources.

I used to work at a computer service house's store front as a service tech mainly dealing with virus and malware. At the begining Ad-aware was an awsome product which we used in additional to other apps like Spybot, PestPatrol etc. But ever since version 6 as I can remember it lost it's touch and we at work pretty much gave it up. However, I would like to give it another shot after all.

In my experience, spybot and ad-aware are able to clean some of the stuff that one or the other misses out and both of them work well if used in tandem.

how is this compared to Spybot ??

Personally I prefer Spybot because it's totally FREE but they both are excellent tool.

My recommendation is to install both versions and use them at least once a month.
