When you install WOT in Firefox for example, you will see "circle" in some color on the left side of search bar. Click on them and you will have offer to "Add your Comment"... after you click on them it'll open new page (official WOT page) where you need to register (but without confirmation mail etc.) and after that you'll have possibility to Rate & Add your comment about SCF...  :bih:

Maybe it look complicate after my explanation... :D but you need  only 2-3 min. for all process.

Thanks to all SCF Members for positive comments and ratings till now.

WOT allows users to add their input on the trustworthiness, vendor reliability, privacy and/or child safety of a website based on their experience with the site and/or services they offer. The rating scale ranges from poor to excellent and is algorithmic. WOT calculates the reputation of a website through a combination of user ratings and data from trusted sources such as Panda Security, PhishTank, TRUSTe and hpHosts.

I will definitely add this to my software protection arsenal - especially on my wife's pc - she seems to always find the "un-trustworthy" sites, lol!

Thanks - Samker!

No, WOT is powered by global community of millions users who have rated millions of websites based on their experiences and also uses information from numerous trusted sources, such as phishing and malware blacklists... so basically it "only" provide information that domain isn't safe...

Excellent find, seems to be minimally intrusive (I did not install the Bing Toolbar), the fact that it seems to be driven (at least partially) by user inputs does, in my mind, open a window of susceptibility, but I'll let it run for now and see if it flags anything I've got a safe history with.

I did make it a point to rate SCF 100%!

Web of Trust browser add-on gone for now after privacy issue

A free web browser extension came at a cost: It leaked users' personal data, according to PCWorld.
The widely used extension, Web of Trust (WoT), uses crowdsourced data to alert users when a site is potentially deploying malware. But a report from Germany-based Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) determined that the company behind the add-on, WOT Services, was selling users' browser histories without anonymizing the data, thus potentially exposing personal information. Additionally, the report said the company was not properly informing users of its data collection procedures.

After the news broke, Mozilla deleted Web of Trust from its Firefox browser marketplace. WOT Services then removed its add-on from the extension libraries of the other major browsers.

While the company claimed it anonymized browser histories it collected and then sold, the NDR reporters, from a small sample, were able to unmask details – including email and phone numbers – on more than 50 users.
WOT Services said it was revamping its add-on, but was unclear when it might reintroduce it.

Users are advised to manually uninstall the extension.

WOW... I didn't know for this "scandal". ???

After brief checks, it look that WOT's App is still presented on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.my.wot

Also, download page shows support for all major browsers, including Firefox:
