For those using Windows OSs (including server versions) I would recommend Dr.Web CureIT! utility as a standalone scanning anti-virus / anti-rootkit utility or Dr.Web LiveDisk containing the same Dr.Web CureIt! utility and a couple of other useful tools for sysadmins in case if a Windows OS machine cannot boot.
These tools are totally free for non-profit / personal use and they come from an old Russian antivirus lab owned by Mr. Igor Danilov.
We all are more familiar with the Russian Kapsersky-brand due to a massive marketing effort set forth by brothers Kaspersky lab. ;) But Kaspersky lab appeared a bit later and after Mr. Danilov's lab. :) All additional info can be found here: https://free.drweb.com/download+cureit+free/?lng=en and here: https://free.drweb.com/aid_admin/?lng=en.
I hope this info will be useful to many people over here.

amazing, how this things work,it's really a problem solver, after endless hours of searching the web for a solution for conflicker, here i'm with what i just need "a removal tool" thanks a lot! cheers.

Don't forget to regularly Update your Windows.  ;)

That's main reason for this kind of infection.

Conficker is caused by unpatch windows based systems.  Need to download Malicious Tool Remover from Microsoft and burn it onto a cd and run it on the infected machine.  Make sure the machine is not on the network if your in a work environment.  Run malicious tool and it will detect and remove conficker.  Once removed, be sure to run windows updates and install a good av solution.

I posted a reply with some more links here: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,1282.msg19893.html#msg19893 (updated 2013). BUT these are more general tools - not designed for specific threads...

Karma!

I have used this tool in the past and is a great freebie to run on any prolematic system,

Dont expect the world of this program cuz at the end of the day it's free and anything that's free is not always that comprehensive at scanning but this in combination with Malware bytes and trend micro and you can't go far wrong.

P.s: Anyone that has a system causing blue screens and your about to give up and rebuild your systems then STOP!!, Try poping in the HDD into another system as a slave.

Obiously you need to ensure your MASTER machine has full Anti virus and firewalls enabled which are all up to date, and that you lock of the possiblitly of anything writing to your MASTER systems main drive, McAfee's Access Protection comes to mind

This stops the nasty malware/virus from jumping from one HDD to another and is ususally the quickest clean up option for me rather than trying to rollback or re-install the OS or APPS.
