Ok, that's very good news.  ;)

1. Now please Turn On System Restore.

2. Regularly make updates of your OS, AV, FW and other security tools since they doesn't worth anything without latest updates!!!

And you don't need to thanks us (to much  :)) since I'm (and We are all) here to help you, it's enough to (as I write at my signature) "Was SCForum.info helpful to you? If so, please recommend this forum to your family and friends ... or even post our link to other sites, forums, blogs ... Thanks !!!"

Also, I would like to you stay with our Community and in the future regularly visit us.

All the best to you and your family,

Samker

P.S.

Thanks by me to kevin76 & Security l33t for good suggestions.

Samker, I went ahead and followed your instructions about norton. I uninstalled it and then installed again from disc. I guess the virus(virusprotectpro) wiped out part of the pishing filter in the installed norton. By uninstalling and then reinstalling a healthy version from disc I replaced the bad file. My friend, I could not have done it without you. Thank you again so much! You are good at what you do.

Hi cobaltazule, Security l33t and Samker,

    @ cobaltazule,
How did you remove virusprotect pro ?

Before follow my instruction, you must move HijackThis in its own folder !

  • Download BTFix by Bibi26.
  • Unzip BTFix on the desktop.
  • Open the folder BTFix.
  • Double click on BTFix.exe.
  • Click on Rechercher.
  • A log will appear, copy/paste it in your next reply with a fresh log of HijackThis.
Bye.

Okay, i think he was able to remove the virus but, somehow the Virus affected the BHO addons i Internet Explorer.. since there is no fast solution to fix this, i recommend you to either call Symantec or see if there is any chance you can reinstall the software... thats the only thing we can do... BTW: Do you got IE7 or IE6..., because if it's IE7.. maybe you could reinstall IE7 also

Hi Security...,

did you have experience with this Norton version?

It's look like we will need help from someone who try this version and check is problem inside of Norton or IE.

Can't you just reintall with same key?, i think it's located in pc even if you reintall, but i recommend you to print the key anyway, (it's a function within Norton to print you cd key :D)

Also, I have two more solutions:

1. First go to Control Panel and just look is there separate Norton Toolbar (or something called fraud monitoring). Don't change anything just inform me.

2. Second is to reset Internet Explorer to Default Settings: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > and (Finaly) reset.

samker, I did as you asked. My system will only remove it. It will not "repair" as you ask. I tried it and almost lost my norton 360. I was one click away from having to purchase another software package. I cannot afford to do that. Is there any way to find the part of my system that was damaged. If I can do that I can then attempt the repair.

Don't worry you won't lose anything with this repair.

I will do as you ask, but can I do it in "safe" mode? I do not want to lose my norton.

Ok, that's good. We don't have any infection.  8)

Now we will do this: Start > Control Panel > double-click Add/Remove Programs > Click Norton 360

I think that you will find there option Repair, choose that and folow instruction.

After that post here what's happend. I will be here in about two hours again.

cya later,

Samker

My version of norton 360 is up to date and my subscription is good. It is also updated everyday. It tells me there is no infection. I ran the trend micro scan and fix as you asked and it only found a few low grade items. The "fraud monitoring is on" bar still does not work. I have provided that new log file as you asked. I hope it helps. I honestly, at this point don't know what to do. Nothing seems to work to restore it. Again, thanks for your patience.
