EkZee is a pocket-sized and standalone electronic device that detects and deletes all the executable files that can contain malicious software from the USBs. With a single press of a button, EkZee detects and preemptively deletes all infected and benign executable files that can contain malware. This is a simple, cheap but powerful way of preventing malware infections. EkZee is a patent pending technology.

Why can't a conventional PC based anti-virus software be used to clean USBs?

Often it is too late to use conventional anti-virus software to disinfect infected USB flash drives. Because many viruses easily infect pre-installed anti-virus software in PCs, those anti-virus systems are ultimately rendered ineffective.

Information Week reported, “In the past two years, 70% of businesses have traced the loss of sensitive or confidential information to USB flash memory sticks. While such losses can occur when the devices get lost or stolen, 55% of those incidents are likely related to infected devices that introduced malicious code onto corporate networks.”

In order to mass produce, EkZee need some help. Here is a campaign for EkZee on Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1675461711/ekzee-a-portable-gadget-to-remove-viruses-from-usb

How can you help?

1. Raise awareness: Spread the word about EkZee amongst your contacts and friends.

2. Pledge: Become a funder for this project. The minimum pledge is £1.

*Please note that these pledges will only issue if the project achieves full funding.

I'm still unsure about how it works... (and updates)

Definitions and Firmware Update

"We are currently planning to provide updates for EkZee firmware and malware definitions (a subscription based service) on our website. Since EkZee requires additional hardware and firmware support for the updates, we are currently exploring potential solutions for the implementation of the update process within EkZee. EkZee can be updated via the mini-usb port that currently provides power to EkZee."  ;)
