Have searched the forum , but cant find even a link these days for un-installing correctly Mcafee enterprise virusscan 8.7i that is operational. Tried the un-installer , but doesn't remove enough to install even a newer Mcafee suite product. Any help would be appreciated ! Know this is an EOL product , but had to press a older desktop in service and must get the BEAST un-installed.
Thanks

Hi BGM,
which error code you get?
I suppose that you tried un-installation process through Control Panel (Add - Remove programs) via "Change" button?
cya later,
Samker
P.S.
I splitted your post from other Topic and started this (new) one... on this way, it'll be easier (faster) for you to get help. ;)

I use Revo uninstaller Pro it's free and cleans up all left over files ...
-
Hi @wwjd,
First I'll ike to say that, RevoUninstaller Pro Is not free program!
Mere RevoUninslaller yes is free, but not Pro version!
@BGM I like to tell that, please read this first:
http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331 (http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331)
and try their own Removal tool (MCPR) to uninstal leftover data
from your computer. :bih:

I stand corrected ... I do have RevoUninstaller (not pro) and it does a good job of removing left over files ... It is worth a try if nothing else works??

Hello @wwjd,
You are rigth @wwjd... :) Even free version from RevoUninstaller is better than Windows's own add remove application! :bih:
Without it (Revo or e.g.) you have must to be installed VirtualMachine on your computer. It work many cases and it's safe!

Yes, tried the standard windows installer ( OS is XP SP3 ) and it appears to un-install , however there are still lots of registry items left , the problem is that when you try to install another licensed Mcafee product ( Mcafee Live Safe ) ( might not be the best but have licenses ) , it will not install. Mcafee small busiiness/home tech support cannot resolve and basically blame it on not fully removing the enterprise version.
There used to be a Mcafee removal tool for Enterprise Virusscan 8.Xi since it was so difficult to get rid of , but I cannot find it anywhere. I dont have access to the enterprise group for assistance. YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD BE HELPFUL REMOVING A CORPORATE TOOL AND REPLACING WITH A PROPER TOOL FOR HOME USE ??? Will follow the links below , have not tried the thrid party un-installers since there is not a lot of information about them.
-
Fintec , thanks for the info , however that for the consumer product. Mcafee Enterprise Virusscan V8.7i is an enterprise product and appears that that tool is not made for the enterprise products. Still looking , you would think they would at least help those who are trying to do the right thing.

Samker, thanks for splitting my topic , lot of smart folks out there.

Pal, here you have detailed instructions on how to manually remove VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i: https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB59996&actp=null&viewlocale=en_US&showDraft=false&platinum_status=false&locale=en_US
Don't overlook this option for removing via "msiexec.exe": https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB52648

However, my recommendation is to you try (before) all other solutions for "automatic" uninstallation... for example:
- try to install VSE 8.7 again, after that go to Control Panel and follow my instructions for removing from previous post
- run McAfee Virtual Technician and follow instructions: http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/free-tools/virtual-technician.aspx
-
Usually with VSE, you need to un-install it via the same way you installed it. (ie, if you installed it via ePO, you need to uninstall it via ePO...)

I think that @jheysen is perfectly Right in this situation...
Perhaps reinstallation of the program offers also repair and removal alternatives! It supports also to try. :bih:
Then run McAfee Virtual Technician and follow instructions!- run McAfee Virtual Technician and follow instructions - See more at: http://scforum.info/index.php?topic=9624.new#new- (http://scforum.info/index.php?topic=9624.new#new-) run McAfee Virtual Technician and follow instructions - See more at: http://scforum.info/index.php?topic=9624.new#new (http://scforum.info/index.php?topic=9624.new#new)

Thanks to everyone for the comments and help. Finally was able to " wake up the Mcafee Enterprise group" and they do admit that the enterprise products are difficult to remove. One would think that they would make it easier to " legally " remove an Enterprise product so that one of their small business/retail products can be installed. Yes there is a Mcafee Tech note on " manual removal " however that requires many registry edits that could lead to even more issues if not real careful and skilled ! Here is the correct way to remove Mcafee Enterprise VirusScan V8.X
1) run the windows uninstall for that product under administrative account... reboot
2) run setup--Rip--Ma.4.x.exe ...reboot
3) run setup--Rip--VSE.8.x.exe ... reboot
All Mcafee Rip ( rippers ) will complete by noting that a log has been created and was successful.
That's the real way to fully clean off all the registry and files on your computer.
I have highly suggested to Mcafee Management that they make sure the small business/retail tech support folks know how to remove the enterprise tools.

McAfee.... Sigh! ;)

I think you can reinstall VirusScan to overwrite the orginal , then remove the app from add and remove program.
