Title: Internet "pirate" jailed for blowing up toilets
Post by: Amker on 08. June 2007., 20:35:58
THE MAN once dubbed the Internet's most notorious pirates of music and movies has been jailed for five years for blowing up toilets.
Bruce Forest, 50, went on a rampage with weapons of bog destruction between 2005 and 2006. Under a plea agreement he admitted destroying one toilet in Weston in February 2006.

No one was injured in any of the blasts and Forest's attorney and his missus said it was completely out of character.

Forest was the "Prince of the Darknet" who was identified as an Internet pirate during the late 1990's by J.D. Lasica in his 2005 book "Darknet: Hollywood's War Against the Digital Generation."

Forest was never convicted of piracy and his wife also denied he did it. Forest had a successful career in the music business that started in the late 1980s and lasted six years. During that time, he produced more than 1,000 tracks and 24 platinum albums for Madonna, Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, and other musicians. Boy George was a mate.

Most of the explosions occurred at night in isolated areas. The explosives involved a mixture of chemicals, police said. Prosecutors said they were detonated by an assault rifle.

Forest's wife claimed he had been addicted to painkillers initially taken for migraine headaches caused by a fall about 10 years ago. A prescribed drug intended to wean him off the painkillers caused psychotic episodes, they said.
