Some Q&A:
- Is this a full VSE installer or just a patch? This is just the patch, so you need to Have VSE 8.8 already installed in order to apply this one.
- How long do you take for sending the password? We send the password whenever we visit the forum, but we are not always on, so please allow up to 48 hours for any of us to send the password.
- I want to install VSE on my system, how can I get the full installer? Please contact your local McAfee's Reseller or representative
- Can I use this product on my personal PC? Yes, you can, as long as you have permission to do so from your IT department
- Are you guys affiliated with McAfee (and/or Intel)? No, we are not.
- I'm having some trouble configuring VSE, can you help me? Sure, visit our PC Help section, we'll be happy to assist you.

Yup, It's for selected customers though. (You have to pay a bit more for your grant to get VSE 4.x for legacy systems)
You know, sometimes ATMs and embedded devices don't always run on the latests OS's... (Even schools keep using outdated terminals :p)

I never realised til recently that you can disable the McAfee splash screen on startup. Hopefully the following will be useful info for those Windows users that want to do it, but be very careful with regedit.
Disable the splash screen.
Click Start, Run, type regedit, and click OK.
Navigate to and select the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\McAfee\DesktopProtection\
In the right pane, double-click bSkipsplash and set the Value data to 1.
NOTE: To re-enable the VirusScan splash screen, change the Value data back to 0.
Exit the Registry Editor.

HORRIBLE system. Even ping had a bug when we started subnetting ;p But mostly I remember the performance... My Pentium DX400 with 10k RPM SCSI disk was CRUNCHING for performance... Just running the system :(
Well deserved it went down, never missed it. Only SUN servers (without binaries pre-compiled) was worse... I consider AS/400 as my problem, them sweet things ;-)

In running the Setup.exe for Patch 4 I an Error 1334. The file "traceapp.dll2" cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file "Data1.cab". When I click Ok it starts to uninstall the patch. Has anyone seen this, or have a solution?

Or software problem. Try uninstaller for removal of older versions? http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,7956.0.html could help out...? IOBit Uninstaller probably won't have the rights to really uninstall it.

Just a note for Road Runner users. Time Warner is now using Comcast routers causing delays and time out. Here is a tracert I ran when I found I was having network issues. They claim to be working out bugs but it took me a long time to get through to someone who would address the issue. If you use newsgroups like me and are on Time Warner backbone you may be seeing similar results. Hold on to your hats it going to be a bumpy ride.

All right, here is a tip that can be of interest for some: Pixar is releasing a free, noncommercial version of its Renderman package, a powerful creative tool. For info, a single commercial license for Renderman retails for $495, with an "annual maintenance" fee of $200. Pixar and Disney are releasing the free version in part because "limitations on software access have become a brake on the development of the production industry, and that universal access and a set of common standards and practices can only stimulate greater growth and development". FYI, VSE 8.8 will require Patch 6 to support Windows 10... probably in Q3 2015., after official release.
