Dear SCF Members,
in this Topic I would like to open discussion about The Best AntiSpyware Solutions.
I personally use Ad-Aware and SpyBot S&D (few years!), in combination they both work excellent (monthly full scans). Especially Spybot because it's totally free. ;)
More about Ad-Aware: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,1212.0.html (http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,1212.0.html)
More about SpyBot S&D: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,24.0.html (http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,24.0.html)
Now, please share with other SCF Members yours experiences, recommendations...?!

Almost forget!
Before few days I was try a Windows Defender and it also look like very good tool.
More about Windows Defender: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,1737.0.html
Did anybody try/use W.D.? ???
-
Windows Defender is all right.
Ad Aware was really working well on my system, liked it a lot.
-
the best free antispyware is spywareterminator while the best paid antispyware is counterspy
-
I used to use spybot, avg,& a few others. I always wondered why my computer kept getting infected. Spybot used to be so good, avg was quite decent but took so long to scan. Then i ran Comodo firewall, SpywareTerminator,& Avira AntiVir. This combination is great for it being a freeware setup. However I have been using Kapersky internet security suite for the last 1 1/2 yrs and have tried NoD 32 from ESET security as well as their total security suite. These suites use less system resources, leave a smaller footprint, & are much much better at what they do. I haven't been infected since i started using Kapersky (unless i purposely downloaded an infected file to get the program i wanted knowing it would get thoroughly disinfected later).
-
I'm using the McAfee Anti-spyware 8.5i. I'm quite satify with it's performance.
-
I run 4 programs regularly spybot, adaware, malawarebytes and superanti spyware. They seem to get everything I have come across.
-
i have never come to use ad aware and spybot.. im stuck in mcafee 8.5i antivirus+antispyware w/ HIP
been satisfy for a year.. Avast crawl during scan.. it takes me 5hours for a full system scan while mcafee takes about a quarter before hour. and the proctection og mcafee? realtime!
-
I agreed to duomaxwell22, same with me. I am mcafee lover.
-
"A clean system is a fast system".
I always keep my system as simple as it can be.
Mcafee for virus detection, Deepfreeze to lock and secure my system from any change, and RegistryBooster to clean/fix/defrag my systems' registry.
I agree with Sam, Spybot is an excellent program!
I generally use it "once" after a fresh install to my pc, scan my new pc and afterwards I uninstalled it! Only just to make sure my PC is clean from unwanted malware and spywares.
The idea is not to install too many programs that will likely affect speed performance. Running its process in the background and/or checking/downloading some updates really slows down your PC!

Avast also have a lot of False Positive Detection.

This is my opinion and experience to.
For systems registry I use CCleaner & TuneUp Utilities and I'm quite satisfy.
Did some of you use them also?
-
TuneUp Utilities is very useful !
-
Mcafee with me I find it very good, i'm using the McAfee Anti-spyware 8.5i.
-
The number of new tools to remove Malware is only matched by the new Malware. I like MalwareBytes, fast!
-
This utilites CCleaner & TuneUp Utilities is very usful
-
i use the Mcafee one that comes with enterprise av along with ad-aware
-
Although Ad Aware & Spybot S&D are both great FREE spyware programs, I highly recommend Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes was able to find things that the above listed was unable to. Very user friendly and it isn't a resource hog.

i find malware bytes as a good one
-
I am using mcafee
-
Thanks
I am using Mcafee 8.5i
-
Windows Defender is all right.
-
is the most effective antispyware and free version :)
-
I use CCleaner along with Ad-Aware and spy-bot. all in that order since it sometimes makes a difference in how long it may take to clean and remove.
-
I use built in in ZoneAlarm the antispyware
-
I totally agree with georgeclone and others
I use spybot, but never in resident state or taskbar. Anytime there's suspision of any spyware, I update spybot and clean the system.
otherwise the system is cluttered and too slow.
-
I'm using McAfee Enterprise + AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.5i v8 + McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention 6.1.0 + CCleaner
-
I agree with Malwarebytes. I also have alot of respect for CA Antispyware (formerly CA Pest Patrol) as it has detected more than most anti-spyware applications have, it has got me out of alot of messy situations
-
I just have the McAfee 8.5i AntiSpy installed. How good is this?
rceronp ???
-
What about windows defender? I think this is a good option..

In my opinion and experience both Apps are excellent...

I'm using Lavasoft Ad-Aware...
In your opinion, works better McAfee 8.5i AntiSpy or Ad-Aware??

My vote go to Ad-Aware... ;)

Ok, me too I think that is the best...
-
I have been using McAfee in addition to Spybot and Ad-Aware. McAfee seems to keep the viruses away but the spyware is for the others. Not sure I have had the opportunity to try out the McAfee Spyware stuff.
-
I recommend SUPERAntiSpyware. It's free from www.superantispyware.com (http://www.superantispyware.com). The program is very effective and won't require much system resources. You can also run it in tandem with a good anti-virus program such as ESET NOD32.

I agree with you Mike, SUPERAntiSpyware is one of my favorite Apps. Very powerful weapon in combat with Malware...

The best is Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

I use both Windows defender and McAfee antispyware enterprice.
Both are excellant..never allowed a spyware or adware into my system since I installed them in my system.
Peace of mind....
-
I have a feeling that Windows defender is little bit slowing down my system..Any suggestion to improve?
-

Lancelot, I don't have any suggestion about W. Defender but my strong recommendation is to try Malwarebyte's and SUPERAntispyware: http://scforum.info/index.php/board,12.0.html (http://scforum.info/index.php/board,12.0.html) ;)
-
I use malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org (http://www.malwarebytes.org)
and Spybot search and destroy...
Sometimes i install windows defender too
SuperAntispyware once deleted my System32 file...I know it can be once in a lifetime thing, but i now will think twice before installing it again ;) ;D

Stopping spyware (“malware”) is more than a one-time inoculation, folks. This is about a weekly habit of cleaning "nasty dust bunnies" from your personal computer. In much the same way you clean your home with your favorite broom and your favorite cleaning solvents, you will also need good tools to clean spyware out of your PC.

For a couple of years, I've been successful with McAfee, Ad-Aware and Spybot on my own computers, as well as my family's computers, but McAfee is the only one I let run constantly, the others I use to scan with weekly.
I added SuperAntispyware and Malwarebytes, as well as the free online Panda security scanner for a particularly nasty virus infection that popped up on my laptop shortly before finals one semester (and of course on the laptop I needed to take my finals with), and I still use those occasionally. Maybe it's overkill, but I've become a little paranoid after the fiasco near finals :) Plus I'm still learning about effective security measures, and hope this site will help me.
-
is there a topic here about the Mcafee anti spyware, where i can download it also... just send me a link thank you..
-
i use Mcafee anti spyware, no problems and it's light for cpu
-
I'm using a combination between mcafee 8.5i antyspyware and superantispyware, both of them works really good and has no perfomance impact in the system.
-
I use Mcafee 8.7i with no antispyware, and i use comodo pro firewall, never used any other tool, and my PC has been virus/bug free for years on end. To note that I torrent and have a home network for the family.
I also have U3 enabled USB thumb drives, which are running avast U3 antivirus (it installs on the USB), which scans the USB drive and the host computer whenever i plug the USB in. This helps a lot with the bug free thing.
A proper solution doesnt neccessarily mean five-six tools to scan for malware, some good sense and awareness :) will keep the computer clean.

webroot spysweeper
-
any votes on with is the best
-
I use the windows defender for spyware. But i also use ccleaner on startup and that keeps me leaner I feel. What do you think?
-
Don't CCleaner slow your PC at Startup? I also like this program and use them once or twice a month.
For Spyware my favorite programs are:
Malwarebytes: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,2201.0.html (http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,2201.0.html)
SUPERAntiSpyware: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,116.0.html (http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,116.0.html)
-
I use a combo of Malware bytes and spybot and windows defender, adware new version I found too resorce hungry!!
-
I recommend Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. They are both free and work well.
-
Get PC Tools Spyware Doctor. It handles Trojans, Malware, Adware, Viruses, and pop ups. It blocks them and spyware in real time, but you can also do all different kinds of scans as well.
-
SuperAntiSpyware and Spyware Terminator are both good. AdAware used to be great up until they changed and put out their piece of c@#p 2007 version. Now it is pretty much useless. WebRoot Spysweeper is fantastic. As far as a cleaner/remover MalwareBytes gets my vote. The only thing more effective is ComboFix. However, I will NEVER recommend using ComboFix to the casual user. This was meant to be used by "advanced users" (read professionals/Geeks here). And to those of you who insist that what you are using is working "Just Fine". Guess again. If you scan with a weak and shoddy utility it will never find anything and tell you that your rig is clean. Of course this is the same utility that NEVER caught intrusions in the first place. Try monitoring your RAM usage, or your running processes, or your CPU load. Better yet. Try scanning with some of the FREE utilities mentioned on this forum.
-
@ Fireballgonzales
You believe your computer to be clean why? Because your McAffee tells you so? Have you ever checked it with any other utilities? Granted, Comodo is one of the best firewalls out there (if not the best). But McAffee is far from being top shelf. http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/rap-index.xml (http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/rap-index.xml) Avast however is very good.
As for your statement :"A proper solution doesnt neccessarily mean five-six tools to scan for malware, some good sense and awareness will keep the computer clean.
You are correct to a point. A proper solution Starts with a good firewall. Then includes a good anti-virus, a good anti-spyware utility, (they are NOT the same thing) and a good anti-phishing filter (the ones included with your browsers are notoriously weak).
Inevitably though. The most efficient solution is to use a Good (ESET, Kaspersky, Sophos, or Webroot) Internet Security Suite. A good suite will not only provide you with more tools and options (things like Anti-banner, Anti-spam, IM Anti-virus, Network Attack blockers, and Parental Control to name a few). But, it will require less resources than running seperate and individual utilities.
Not for nothing but. I am a US Marine Corps trained technician. And, I do this type or thing for a living.
-
AdAware used to be great up until they changed and put out their piece of c@#p 2007 version. Now it is pretty much useless.
Yes, they are useless right now. I was remove them from all PC's.
Don't know did you try Spybot Search & Destroy: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html) ?? Very good and totally free product.
Of course, No1 is SUPERAntiSpyware (for me). ;)
-
I am totally agree that CounterSpy is the best software for AntiSpyware .
-
how abt avast...its free too....

-
Spybot is the best
-
I use Ad-Aware.. and it works well
-
Like most of us I use a layered approach with SPyBot, MalwareBytes passive and McAfee AV but I am going to add a 3rd program after some testing
-
I use Windows Defender and McAfee AntiSpyware enterprice. Both are excellent. never allowed a spyware or adware on my system since I installed on my system. Really Peace of mind...
-
I suggest you to use Spyware Doctor spyware .Hope you will enjoy to use it and get good result .pyware Doctor has advanced spyware removal technology that provides essential coverage without slowing you down with confusing features.
-
For my case, I've been using VSE with the antispyware module, malwarebytes anti-malware and Windows Defender sometimes, so far no problems with that combination.
-
Hi I'm currently using Ashampoo AntiSpyWare. In it you can find the most adequate mechanisms and functionality for the detection and elimination of spyware. With Ashampoo AntiSpyWare you can perform an exhaustive scanning of the hard disk of your computer searching for possible infections or anomalies existing in the system. In case it detects trojans, rootkits, malware, adware or worm it eliminates it immediately.

I used Anti-Malware from Malware Bytes, S&D (portable), W.D., and the Anti-Malware function of Advanced System Care, and in a ranking:
1-Anti-Malware from Malware Bytes
2-S&D
3-Advanced System Care
4-W.D.

Right now, IMO, Malwarebyte's & SUPERAntiSpyware are the best two AntiSpyware tools, I'm sure you'll be also satisfied with them.

IMHO the best one is MBAM (http://privacy-pc.com/antimalware-software-review/malwarebytes-anti-malware-review.html (http://privacy-pc.com/antimalware-software-review/malwarebytes-anti-malware-review.html)), i don't know if many people use it but it's great
-
Anti-spyware application provides improved security in two ways: real-time or recognition and elimination. Actual time security is associated with effective security as it stops the set up of malware on your pc.
-
For my part and after having proved them exhaustively Ad Aware y SUPERAntiSpyreware of the best thing considered for a conventional user. It is possible that in some aspects others could be better, but in general the yield is good.
-
I am using Malwarebytes, it really helps me and I would recommend this one. Thanks
-
how about mcafee spyware? Is it not good?
-
It's just a module :p
-
using virusscan and malwarebytes :)
-
vote for malwarebytes!! i still using it from 2015 until now :D
