I've looked at the features of ZoneAlarm and Comodo, they both are great firewalls. I would go for ZoneAlarm Pro . It has just the right features I was looking for, plus other ones. Comodo is almost as good but it doesn't have the extra features like what ZoneAlarm Pro has, but it is free ;).

Good choice.

I've heard a lot of good stories about Sygate Personal Firewall, but I haven't tried it myself. Has anyone else here tried it before?

Nope, I'm not.  :-\

But it's look like there is no more Sygate  ;) :

Sygate Personal Firewall

Sygate Personal Firewall has been replaced by an advanced "Smart Firewall," available in Symantec’s Norton Internet Security. This firewall is based on Sygate Personal Firewall’s same IPD/IDS technology and provides you with robust online security. This firewall, included in the Norton Internet Security product, provides a simple, unified way to stay protected from online threats. Norton Internet Security also includes essential protection from viruses, spyware, hackers, phishing, and more.

McAfee Desktop Firewall? I didn't know that they had a standalone firewall program.  ???

As I said, this is one very old version from 2003.  ;D

I've tried a few, including McAfee, Eset and a few others. They seem to have basic firewalls unlike actual standalone programs like ZoneAlarm.

I'm using McAfee Desktop FireWall 8.5 for Years, without any problems.

FYI, very, very old version.  ;)

I am tested Eset smart security trial with firewall, antispyware and antivirus.Firewall may not have many options as a standalone Firewalls, but in combination with other parts of ESS is very good protection.Thats my experience.

Which ESET version did you try and when??

Don' know why but from some reason I don't like NOD.  :-\

I was last time use (better say try) them before 2-3 years.

I agree, Eset does have very good protection, just not when it comes to an advanced firewall. I tried it about 2 months ago and it was Eset Smart Security 4.0.
