Hiding Files And Folders
« on: 27. September 2007., 11:25:08 »
Let's try an example:

1) go to mydocs find any folder.
2) right click folder and select properties.
3) check hidden, click apply, now we are presented with a dialog box. Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files.
4) click ok, now on the properties box click ok. close mydocs directory.

sometimes our folder will appear transparent untill we close the directoy it was in.
our folder is now hidden, if the folder you just hid, is pinned to the start menu. like say, my pics,my videos. they will still be in the start directoy, but appear as an empty folder. if you were to open mydocs, the entire folder is now gone.
if you didn't choose one of those and choose some other folder it is now gone from my docs.

Now lets see that folder and its contents:

1) go to mycomp and click it, now we have this directory open.
2) look up top along its tab and find tools.
3) click tools and then click folder options.
4) now we want to click the view tab along the top of this box.
5) look for the heading "Hidden Files And Folders" we want to put a tick mark inside "show hidden files and folders".
6) click ok.

now we can see the folder and files we just hid.
go back to mydocs directory and your folder will be in there. most likely the last folder inisde mydocs directory.
if it was pinned to the start menu the files within that folder will now reappear.
of course you would need to go back to the folder options and tick off "don't show hidden files and folders" for it to be hidden again.

now you have a basic concept of how to hide files or folders.
