Mido, this is a very interesting suggestion.

Because of that I'll add "Voting poll" to this topic.

IMO, the best solution is SMF (which is already used, it have my vote :) ) but I would like to hear opinions from other SCF's members as well.  ;)

Go Vote, People and don't forget post reply with your reasons/opinions...

I got a intresting ad yesterday at this site. It was a ad that tells that I got a Virus and needed to click on the ad to get it removed.
Offcause I did not click on it and offcause i check my own way that I did not have any virus.

So Samker purhaps you can do somting for some ad's atlest so we don't get this kind of ad's. It cant be good for this forum to get them.

So less ad's get a more secure forum I agree with devnullius about that.

Oter wise I don't have any prefaired forums. Just that it working and can be handeld in a good way by the Admin.
Their is two easy way to configure a system!
Every thing open and every thing closed.
Every thing else is more or less complex.

Start Turfing ! http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,8405.msg21475.html#msg21475

Thanks for comments Devnullius & Pez.

Unfortunately, We need ads to keep SCforum running... with them, We cover almost all costs (hosting etc.). Personally, I don't like them just like You two, maybe even more. ;D

@Pez

Please, tell me on which position this "bad ad" appear: http://scforum.info/advertising.gif and I'll contact that ad network with complaint.
Big problem with this is that ads are served from ads networks (not by SCforum, except in case when some company directly buy banner place for some period) depending on few factors for example geographic location, so in some cases ads which You see in your Country, I can't see in my, or Devnullius in its Country.
More about this You have possibility to read on SCF's (and Google's) "Privacy Policy" page(s): http://scforum.info/privacy.html

I hope We'll have more replies and opinions on this topic... (scForum changes ?!)

Cheers,

Samker

P.S.

I promise, I'll try to reduce number of ads (even more) for Mod's and VIP members immediately. ;)

I've worked with IPB and phpBB, from administrator and moderator point of view... and to tell the truth.. I feel most comfortable with IPB...
I have to struggle a little to do things in SMF... while in IPB I can do them even if I haven't done them before without much trouble.
Its all personal preference though. I don't complain about SMF as it works well...

@Samker - you hate ads even more, huh? Well, I'll take your word for it  :) Biggest problem with the ads for me is simple: it always halts the loading of the page - ad first! That actually is the only problem.

Your promis to lessen the burden for VIP members & the likes sounds like a real reward for hard work ;p But in general, I actually like text ads, if AdSense is implemented correct and feeds me with relevant KVM Switch ads :) It's only the loading part that I hate...

@ VIP's & Mod's

The "slowest" one (information from logs), 2nd Wide Skyscraper banner is disabled.

I'm 99% sure that scForum will load faster for You. ;)

I hope, one day, We'll have some big sponsor which will cover costs... and We'll disable all of them (ads). :-\

All The Best,

S.
