Let's hope its better than Windows Defender. Every machine I've dealt with has had Windows Defender on and active and it hasn't caught a thing yet.
-
When will they release a virus free OS ;D?
-
How about just a free OS!
-
I agree with mindfrost82. Gonna try this. Hoping its better than Windows Defender!
-
thanks for this info, i cant wait to try MSE
-
OS protection from OS maker itself and that too for free. I was waiting for the final release...
-
I have heard that this is excellent. It supposedly beats most other large companies AV
-
It's good that they offer this for free. ^_^
-
I think they will bundle this with their OS.
-
I couldn't even get this. Not available in your country! argh
-
hey hey hey i dont know this...uhmmm! is this a good stuff?? comparing with mcafee?? or mcafee still rockz!? ehehe
-
It's good, I'll test it
-
any good review about it?
thanks.
-
yeah, I think we'll need someone to review this... I don't know how much I trust a first generation VS.
-
this is free.. I'd to try...
-
great I'll try it with 7 I just install.
-
I am using the software now on a test machine and so far it is working fine. Resource usage is not bad and user interface is good.
-
i hope it work in all windows os. thanks a lot
-
I installed it on my work PC along with other stuff loaded by IT in hope of getting extra layer of protection. So far it's being working just fine. Almost maintenance free. Fair performer in the anti-virus contest.
-
I've moved all my home PC's to use it now. Work forces McAfee and unfortunately they don't update the patches as quickly so makes for fun times with the little bugs that are addressed in future patches. Hope to become a contributor so I can get access earlier :)

Quite right. It has a vast signature list and I have also run it along side other all-in-one security products with minimal interference.
-
bump!
We would like to hear your opinion and experience with Microsoft 'Security Essentials'.
Thanks!
-
At least it's free
-
Not good at all !
-
Avast is the great antivirus software. I am also using this since long time.
-
Here can you get defenition files (e.g. for reinstallation of Windows):

-
every time I manually update MSE (because I use Windows Firewall with Advanced Security on Vista to prevent automatic software update while I'm online), it tells me that connection failed. Although it seems successfully updated
but anyway, I have plan to use McAfee VirusScan Enterprise on Vista and a virtual OS on it (Windows 2000)
-
Do you consider it as a good enough AV?

Do you consider it as a good enough AV?
IMO, right now We have much better FREE alternatives (Avira, AVG, Avast, Panda...) than MSE. ;)
-
It's not good enough.
