An alternate option to using BartPE is to download the WAIK or ADK from Microsoft, install it onto a machine, and within the Help Files are walkthroughs on how to create a bootable WinPE image, which can be used either as a .ISO or a USB image.

Of course, you will need a Windows7/Windows 8/Windows Server 2008 R2/Windows Server 2012 DVD that the process will use to copy the necessary files from to create the WinPE image.

no new applications have been installed. Except in the last 2 days they have been using the computer to play internet games. May be something from there has caused this problem.

hmmm... don't know.  :-\

Please, follow my instructions related to CCleaner and provide us result.

Saint, I don't see (quick view) any big problem in your HJT log (except few minor, but We'll fix them at the end...).

Did you install any new App recently??

For example, in the past I had an similar experience when install McAfee antivirus & ZoneAlaram firewall on my laptop. Maybe you have some similar (incompatible) combination of Apps??

At the end, repeat this "old" step and provide us new information did you have any improvement??

2. Download and use CCleaner: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,1133.0.html (be careful, select everything except Desktop Shortcuts & Hotfix Uninstallers)... also repair your Registers (don't forget to create Backup, just in case... ;))

One idea you can do is to do a BartPE CD or USB disk. To install your favorit antivirus tool on that. After a cold boot boot the sytem on the BartPE you can do a clean scan for virus if your thinking this is the problem.

Her is some link to how to use and get BartPE:
http://xpt.sourceforge.net/techdocs/nix/disk/boot/boot12-BartPEUSB/
http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

You can also try to boot in a minimal OS by cold boot and under the boot (when you se the blob blinking at the left top corner) press F8. Then try to setup the OS to boot with as few drivers loded as possible. If it is not a virus you probebly got a driver truble or some hardware truble.

It can be usful to know what have hapen just befor you got this problem. This to know if you have had some reson that HW had broken or installed some new driver that made the truble or juas surfed and downlooad some files that can have been infected.

I hope this is helping you at the right track.

Since I wrote the last post. I followed the instructions and got the computer working normally, But now it has started to give the exact same trouble as before. Just for re

I am using a desktop computer with the below configuration
MS Windows XP Home SP3
Intel Core2 Duo,CPU E7300 @ 2.66GHZ,3.0GB RAM,Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset.
Since of late on start up the windows starts normally, but after the desktop icons show, the computer hangs and is non responsive. The mouse pointer shows in the center with the (working in background) hour glass which is steady not tumbling. Cannot open any files or programmes. The items that appear on the bottom right of the task bar also does not show up. The antivirus soft ware also does not start up. click on the 'start' button has no response. Ctrl+Alt+Del no response. Also the time display does not change with time. On Using the reset button which restarts the computer also produces the same situation after the computer restarts.  There is nothing that can be done for a minimum of 15 minutes.
I have  run Trend Micro HJT. But after the programme ran a dialogue box was displayed
I have made a Scr.Shot. of this but cannot find a way to attach it here.

Below is the log file.

I have followed all the steps. Removed Java Update Scheduler
Google Update
Facebook Update
QuickTime Task
and also did  Panda Online Scaner
below is the HJT LOG AND PAND ON LINE SCAN RESULTS. Now the computer performs much better at startup. No long waiting period. Thanks for all your help.

That's good news.   ;)

I don't see Panda's log  ??? but presume that it's clean?

Now please follow my next instruction:

1. Go to Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs and uninstall: Yahoo toolbar, uTorrent toolbar & Google toolbar (if you don't need/use them?)

2. Remove this item's with HJT:

check startup items and running services.
Any Suspicious Files running in temp folder
Posted by: Samker
« on: 17. February 2012., 21:06:58 »

I have downloaded and run Trend Micro HJT. Below is the log file.

Hi Saint,

don't worry We'll Speed-Up your comp.... ;)

For the start, after you finish with instructions provided by SCF's Mod. "Jheysen"... follow my additonal instructions and after that provide us New logs from HJT and Panda Online Scanner:

1. Download and Run, Panda Online Scaner: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,734.0.html

2. Download and use CCleaner: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,1133.0.html (be careful, select everything except Desktop Shortcuts & Hotfix Uninstallers)... also repair your Registers (don't forget to create Backup, just in case... ;))

3. As I mention at the start, provide us new logs and information did you still experience problems with your PC??

cya later,

S.

Uhm... nothig suspicious there...
How you have configured your AV? Update on startup?
I would suggest you to disable the following processes from start:
Java Update Scheduler
Google Update
Facebook Update
QuickTime Task
If you don't have an Apple Mobile device, also deactivete iPodservice and AppleSyncNotifier.

Please update us if that helps. We would encourage you to perform a full AV scan anyway.

Regards,
J.
