I recently purchased DI-624S Rev.B and I would like to review this device.

DLink DI-624S has built-in storage, Ftp, HTTP and printer server + two USB ports. This attracts consumers but...
I want to tell people that setting ftp, http or storage server requires general knowledge about security and how network works.
Printer server worked out of the box; I have an old HP D1460 printer.

Pros.
. Storage, Ftp, Http, Printer server built-in
. Consumer-level WMM and QoS support
. 2x USB ports for external connection
. Able to watch HD movie through wireless, distance closer than 15 meters.
. Able to give specific users a right to either read or write to the attached storage device

Cons.
. Maximum data tranfer rate (storage server) is limited to under 1.70 MB/s due to CPU limitation (ARM processor 200MHz)
. NTFS-partitioned hard drives are mounted as read-only OR dont get mounted
. 108MB/s only works with compatible D-Link NIC devices
. Intermediate computing skills required to setup Storage, FTP or HTTP server
. The device gets little bit hot when it works hard

Note.
. DI-624S uses UNIX firmware and samba as storage server (has open-source firmware)
. Avoid purchasing Rev.A since it is a failed version (slow transfer rate, auto reboot, etc)
. Uses Atheros Mini-PCI WLAN adaptor for wireless communication

So, even though I am disappointed with its Read/Write speed of attached storage device, I am quite happy with it.
I attached 3.5" 320GB IDE HDD and HP D1460 printer, they work fine without any problems. My iTunes Library calls the smb://192.168.24.1
to load all the music from the hard drive. But, I want to say this device is not ideal for a place with busy traffic.

That was my crappy review, Thank you for reading.

P.S. I am not English, so please understand my bad English. :)
well? understand ma bad English.

The firmware on the product you buy on the shop shelf is v1.00 and dates back to 2005. If you go looking for an update, you usually end up on the US dlink.com web site where you will be told support ended for the product completely in mid-2008 and there are no firmware updates.

Unfortunately, you purchased an old product for which there was no support.

Damn it! Are you being serious? DI-624S is no longer supported? Yeah I guess, the latest firmware seems to be old... Thank you for informing me about this. Btw, I dont really mind. I got what I wanted :)
