With computer security on the minds of more people lately due to an increase in high profile cyber attacks, PC processor maker Intel is preparing to reveal details of a new kind of security technology that will include input from software maker McAfee. Venture Beat reports that during Intel's conference call with investors on Wednesday the company's CEO Paul Otellini announced that Intel is working on the new technology which will mix both a hardware solution with software provided by Intel's McAfee unit: http://venturebeat.com/2011/07/20/intel-mcafee-hybrid-security/

Details of the new technology have yet to be revealed by Intel but Otellini stated that more info will be revealed at the company's Developer's Forum event. That is scheduled to be held on September 13-15 in San Francisco.

At the time of the acquisition, Intel stated, "Hardware-enhanced security will lead to breakthroughs in effectively countering the increasingly sophisticated threats of today and tomorrow. This acquisition is consistent with our software and services strategy to deliver an outstanding computing experience in fast-growing business areas, especially around the move to wireless mobility."

In Tuesday's quarterly financial results, Intel announced that the purchase of McAfee, along with the purchase of another company Infineon, had added $1 billion in revenue for Intel in the last financial quarter. Intel recorded a total of $13.1 billion in revenue for the quarter that ended on June 30.
