Security teams at Microsoft have been busy this week, with the full unveiling of the Microsoft Malware Protection Center, a portal site bringing together a range of security resources, and also the release to beta of version 2.0 of the company's home-user security product, Windows Live OneCare.
The portal site, here, carries a range of prevalence data in several categories, as reported by the Malicious Software Removal Tool and from other sources, as well as downloads of latest updates from Windows Defender and Forefront Client Security. There is also a malware encyclopedia, links to other security-related resources around the Microsoft family of websites, and a system for uploading suspicious samples for analysis.
A blog entry on the unveiling from the Microsoft anti-malware team is here, and some comment on the resources offered by the new site is here.
Over in the OneCare team, the release to beta of version 2.0 sees some improvements to backup facilities, and the addition of some home network functionality, allowing the security of multiple PCs to be managed from a central system.
