A long while back Microsoft released the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor, helpful for those who were unsure if their computer could handle the requirements and find areas where they could improve; continuing this trend, the Redmond software company has published a beta of the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, as they reported on their blog.

The Upgrade Advisor analyzes your system hardware, showing areas that are fine and dandy, and informing you of others that could be troublesome when it comes time to upgrade to the final version of Windows 7. In addition to this, it can detect any USB devices you may have (like printers or cameras) and tell if they will work fine, or if not, the course of action to take when the need to use them arises.

The official requirements for Windows 7 can be found below, just in case you don't want to run the advisor:

* 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
* 1GB RAM (32-bit) / 2GB RAM (64-bit)
* 16GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20GB (64-bit)
* DirectX® 9 graphics processor with WDDM (Windows Display Driver Model) 1.0 or higher driver

Be sure to test this and report back on how it goes; you can find the download link just below.
