The free version of ZoneAlarm provides most of the functionality that a home user should have. I use the product with Mcafee Enterprise , and also have a hardware firewall.  The important feature for me is the outbound firewall.  If you really want to make sure your virus , addware, and malware is in check , you must also monitor ( authorize ) outgoing data and that is one key feature ZoneAlarm firewall does for you

It quickly fixed, pretty easy to use, set up is very easy. It catches everything thus far and quickly puts your mind at easy as well as the toolbar, good one, good customization possibilities.

it's interesting to note than virusscan enterprise (all builds) do not play well with zonealarm products.Mcafee recommends uninstalling buffer overflow protection when using free zonealarm
