The reason this is such a hot topic is because those of us who upgraded to Windows 8 and had McAfee installed can either choose to use their antivirus software built-in (which who can trust that) and delete McAfee or find the patch for McAfee so we can use some of the windows features. You would think this patch would be available on McAfee's site but I have not been able to locate it.

Im not shore about home users and thers product updates. But for McAfee Buissnes product you need to log in with a "Grant code" that you get when you pay the maintenace fee. This grant code is only given to a few on eatch contract and what I know must be named in the maintenace agreement with McAfee. I have been in this loop before at McAfee. ;) When you have a grant code for a company you have a own login thogether with the grant code and get all products download over from McAfee at a personalysed web site for your contract. Ther you can download all products and patches to them according to the maintenece and contract you have signed. You also get all the preview and beta sw for testing for your envirement.
This is the reason that it is difficalt to get the patches from McAfee. That thay bundel everything at a site and that you need the grant number to get anything.
Yes I know this is for the buisness products but realy McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.8 is realy a buissnens product. ;)
I prefair this McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.8 in front of the most home products by my self because of that most home products want to install to match around that I don't have any good control around. Thay want to install toolbars and ther own firewall and so that ther have ther own filosofy around the function that I ofen don't have the same as a pritty experience IT Specialist.
I hope this explain whay it is so special to get the Patches for McAfee products. ;)

S., Can you elaborate on that problem? :/

J.

Of course pal... by the way, Devvie's explanation is quite accurately.

G. doesn't allow any kind of "illegal" activities and it react, on almost all appeals from big Companies (especially from Microsoft), with account suspension etc.

It's AdSense service not AdWords. 8)

Microsoft behaved like a little bijatsj en was not amused by the walk-through for the WIndows 8 Pro MC activation trick I wrote. They nagged to Google, and Google Adwords killed of 1000s* of $$ of Adwords revenue a day by banning SC with adwords.

Luckily, Samker had some good credits and my topic was removed...

All in all, Peace returned ; )

Just to clarify something (because of recent problem with Google & Win 8 :-[ )... McAfee's Patch is:

Quote
...
"a single installable package which updates a specific version of a product and usually contains fixes for multiple issues."
...

More info's: https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB51560

...and it's NOT: crack, keygen, "patch (activator) etc. ;)

P.S.

For all Visitors, SCforum doesn't support any kind of illegal activities:

Well, It's hard to find the patches :p
More to say, files containing the actual software and not bundled with trojans...

What's  the deal with McAfee VirusScan Enterprise? No other topic @ SC seems to be more popular (post-wise, read-wise...).

So... WAZZUP?? :P

Karma,

Devvie
