Registration code expired... No more Aurora BlueRay player :(

POST-EDIT: Here we go... The 2014 Gremlins have arrived :( The key given here will not work anymore! Nothing to do...

:bih: I think I finally found a (semi-) legal solution: a full fledged free all-round blu-ray (and dvd) player for Windows and Mac OS X!

It is a giveaway with the same serial for everyone. I'll be testing later, but for now here it is:

Why you don't use VLC-media player..It's free and really good!

Download it here:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

I used VLC as the ONLY program for over 10 years. Version 0.8.6.1 I believe? ;p Anyways, while it indeed plays EVERYTHING it does have problems with DVD playback. Yes it plays VOB's just fine, and yes you can just right-click a folder and play the contents. BUT for actually starting to play a real DVD with menu's and all, VLC just isn't up to the job.

Also I noticed, mainly by MANY complaints of my friends, that the colours aren't good with VLC. And even I could not ignore that anymore once Windows 7 came out. Movies suddenly had GREAT colours, while VLC's still were much less bright and vivid.

This led to a search for better for my non-Win-7-friends. And everybody agrees: Daum Pot Player is THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK! No discussions whatsoever.

Don't download it from their site, you will end up all Chinese. Instead, google for "latest daum pot player english download" and work from one of the mirror sites found.

And for DVD playback, well... Pot needs a little extra attention - and being Dutch... I always give pot all the attention it needs ; ))

*kuch* peace! *uh kuch*

I know but... I don't like codecs in my OS. I'm from the pre-W95 generation and we got SCARED like hell for codecs in our system32 :P

Even today, I just do not like them. A program should offer it by default with build-in codecs.

IF I have to install codecs (I usually refuse), I go for the Shark007 codec pack. He sees things my way, which gives me a comfortable feeling. Did not encounter real problems with it, but it doesn't solve everything either.

So for now Daum Pot Player will stay my default - way better than any codec anyway.

I'll also give another look at proposed DVD players...

Thanx & Peace!

...

BUT will the license be limited to 1-installation-only? If so, I cannot use it.

...

Yup, only one...  :-\

...

... Pot will not play dvd's: you MUST select the CORRECT sound devices (speakers!) and codecs (I just chose the first ones when I had to choose).

...

Related to codecs problem... take advice from "jheysen" and try K-lite (for the start Basic version): http://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

I'm 99% sure that with them, you'll resolve all problems related to codecs. ;)

If you don't want to use codec packs (K-lite is quite nice) or VLC o MPC, then I would try with real player maybe?
