WinPC Defender and Anti-Virus Number 1 removal guides
« on: 18. March 2009., 16:07:48 »
Two new rogue anti-spyware programs were released in the past two days called Anti-Virus Number 1 and WinPC Defender. Both of these are advertised via Trojans.

Anti-virus Number 1 is a clone of the Anti-virus 1 and Antivirus 2010. Like its predecessors it uses false reviews as described here to promote itself. WinPC Defender is a clone of XP Police Antivirus and, with XP Police in mind, it will most likely be a widely spread rogue.

We have removal guides for both of these infections below:

How to remove WinPC Defender: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-winpc-defender

Hi, what if you have WinPC on your computer, and System Restore won't work, and the computer restarts after about a minute EVERY time you start up? Internet explorer won't work, nor Firefox, so can't get download tool. How do I stop the system shutting down long enough to do anything? Ta

Hi,

download Malwarebytes Anti Malware, it should able to remove these rogues. There's also a possibility to remove WinPC defender and Anti-virus Number-1 manually.

WinPC defender removal instructions: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-winpc-defender.html

Anti-virus Number-1 removal instructions: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-number-1.html

In both cases there are also automatic rogue removers, just in case manual removal won't be successful.
