ECCoin is an energy saving coin generating most of its coins through PoS blocks. It distributes its initial coins through 45 days evenly distributed PoW mining, no halves during the initial distribution phase, thus ensures a fair distribution. After initial distribution, the PoW block will be stopped. The coin generation will be done entirely through the PoS generations.
ECCoin also adopts a variable PoS rate with the following annual interest rate:
- Year 1: 25%
- Year 2: 15%
- Year 3-9: 10%
- Starting Year 10, it will have an annual PoS interest of 1%

After this 9 Years schedule , the coin generation will be reduced to the baseline inflation of 1%, and the existing coins will be used for circulation.

- 4 confirmations for a transacaction

Question About How They are Kept and Paid Interest Upon If I have (hypothetically)10000 ECC coins and keep them for 45 days. What will the interest be paid?
- 10k ECC for 45 days will be paid:
10000 * 0.25 * 45 / 365 = 308 ECCs
Does it have to be in a local wallet to accumulate, or can it be stored in an exchange?- Only in local wallet, in exchange it will generate PoS too, but no exchange will pay you, they will take the free coins for themselves.
Does the wallet have to be unlocked to mint?- Yes The wallet has to be unlock in order to mint. Use console to do it. Open you wallet, if it's not synchronized go to the first page of this thread. If it is, then go to Help -> Debug window -> console write this :

Question: I noticed the new button for locking/unlocking the wallet. I haven't locked it, yet the button is labelled "Unlock" --- but is greyed out so I have no way to click it. Not sure if this means it is currently locked and so can't do POS, or if it hasn't been locked and the button is just mislabeled?- Only if your wallet is locked, then the "unlock wallet" button will be enabled. Minting? I read the FAQs but still don't understand what it means by "minting". I don't know what my locked wallet is preventing the wallet from doing. Why does it need to be unlocked for "minting" to occur?- Yes you need to unlock your wallet in order to generate pos blocks locked wallet will not generate pos blocks, though your coin-day will still be accumulating.
If the coin shuts off after 9 years, will the transaction fee then be reduced to 0? How does the PoS confirms transactions?- The pos blocks will still be generating after 9 years, except that the rate is a low 1%. The pos blocks will confirm all the transactions and keep the network going. The tx fee will stay the same. tx fee will not be lost.
How many coins will be?- After 10 years 50 billions in total.
What is PoS?- Proof of Stake. Your cryptos produce interest in wallet as long as you keep them. So you don't have to mine and so nature protected.
