Have you ever noticed that sometimes your computer runs out of CPU or RAM resource? When using Windows, I sometimes saw a few particular apps, like svchost.exe (netsvcs) or TiWorker.exe, use a lot of CPU resource, such as up to 100%, or use all physical memory. These issues lead to many serious problems in Windows, including running slowly or apps being frozen.

Therefore, we need to find out the real reason behind those processes and resolve the issue as soon as possible to get the computer back. It also helps your computer run faster and won't be frozen.

According to the Microsoft's experts, there are many reasons can cause the high CPU/RAM usage issue in Windows. Depending on each case, we will need to use a separate method to diagnose and resolve it. For example, if svchost.exe is hogging your CPU resource, but you find out that Windows Update is the real cause behind this process, then you will have to start at Windows Update application and the latest updates.

Here are two major reasons behind high computer's resources usage problems:

1. Windows Update

When Windows Update got any problems, it can cause many serious issues, including using a lot of your CPU, RAM or disk usage. If you are getting any of those issues, try to uninstall latest updates, reset Windows Update settings, as well as delete SoftwareDistribution folder. Those ways will help you to fix most errors that are related to Windows Update.

Besides, you can also stop Windows Update service or even disable it for resolving the problem.

2. Viruses Or Malicious Programs

Many types of viruses or malicious programs can cause high CPU usage issues in Windows. For fixing those problems, download and install a good antivirus program to scan your computer and detect those kinds of viruses.

Moreover, I would recommend you to download an anti-malware program like Adwcleaner to scan your computer for malware.

Along with two reasons above, there are a few other reasons that can create high resource usage problems in Windows. However, depending on each situation, you will have to use a right method to troubleshoot.

For any questions regarding high CPU usage problem in Windows, especially Windows 10, post it below.

I was encountering this problem a few time in last month and it was resolved in minutes by uninstalling Windows Update. From my point of view, in most cases, the issue is caused by Windows functions like Windows Update. All we need to do is to find which function/service cause the issue and stop them from working for temporary fix and then diagnose to find permanent solution.
