Re: avast 8 home released: new features

DOWNLOAD Avast Home Here: http://www.avast.com/get/6gQyTmY1

Two new features that immediately stand out:

- Open Avast, go to tab Security
In the column left, at the bottom, you will find "Tools" (?translating here: hulpmiddelen) - Browser Cleanup.

This browser cleanup is a SMART one! (As opposite to browserprotect.org which works good but is dumb like shit).

Coincedently some chrome extensions had become evil and started to show advertisements. With so many extensions installed for so many years, it was hard to track the culprit down. Not with avast! All gone (and thank you AdMuncher.com for keeping all this silent for me; ) and goodbye visibleclick & 1clickdownloader ;p

It can be download as a stand-alone tool too! http://www.avast.com/en-gb/store

- Software update is NOT another software updater! (But it does update software ;p).
Also a smart implementation. I HATE software updaters & informers: they will try to update Giveaway-software (you will lose license) or warez (ditto). Or they just report wrong. Or or or. So no, and when I saw avast offering this I had a deep SIGH.
BUT I was WRONG! Because Avast ONLY updates the tools and programs that NEED updates because they are well-known security risks! With Chrome it's not that essential (Java old? Chrome will warn and refuse. Adobe? Not used. Etc). Still, I cannot pass up on this one ; )

WARNING: free Home version only allows manual user-driven updates. Commercial version does this automatically too. Too bad, for this is the FIRST TIME EVER I want a Payed version of Avast*... :s For my friends, ofcourse ;p

I do have a tip for you: Soluto.com has the smartest silent critical software auto-update function I know! It's automatically, BUT you have to start it manually. Sorry :) But you only have to click once and all programs will get updated with special slipstreamed installers. So no opening of website downloads (Java) or failing updates, as currently still is the case with Avast... (October 2013).

AND another post-edit tip: if you do not like to register (which is required), there is a loophole! There are multi-year license keys available, legit, for free. See more here: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,7619.msg21493.html#msg21493

Karma & enjoy!

* Currently, September 2013, there is a promo for a 1 year license: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,7619.msg21491/topicseen.html#msg21491

Lifetime for the person, Lifetime for the product, Lifetime for the company, Lifetime for the version, Lifetime for the OS, Lifetime for the computer, Lifetime for current definition file or Lifetime for something else!

There is many lifetime to take in consideration! ??? ;)
The important her is to know Lifetime of what (a banana fly 30 days)! ;)
Their is two easy way to configure a system!
Every thing open and every thing closed.
Every thing else is more or less complex.

Lifetime is meant for the product. At least for the version you first get - hopefully for future versions too. But always "lifetime" should mean as long as the company exists ;p

I only once saw it differently.

;p

And what is life anyways? Best explanation? We're all a huge projection ;-)

Peace!

I think we finally solved this old mysterious remark... http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,7619.msg21493.html#msg21493 shows you a list of official free keys to use. It is not truly lifetime, but if your PC survives that long... Kudos? ;p

I updated this thread accordingly...
