Topic: Microsoft fix 22 vulnerabilities in following Patch Tuesday

In this month's update, to which Microsoft have unofficially permitted to be called 'Patch Tuesday', the software giant intends to be fixing 22 vulnerabilities that have been discovered throughout some of its programs. The number of risks remains the same as it was last month: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,6359.0.html , however a significantly greater amount of patching is involved for August with 13 bulletins overall. The news comes as the traditional second Tuesday of the month approaches when Microsoft usually releases the security updates.

With that in mind, the security updates will be distributed worldwide from Tuesday 9th August 2011 (10AM PST). Those that have the Windows Update functionality turned on, will not have to worry as it should automatically take care of patching your relevant system. Those that have not activated the Windows Update feature, must ensure they manually update their systems, given that once again, risks have been found with remote code execution, elevation of privilege and denial of service.

Below is an overview of all affected components in the update:

- Internet Explorer (6, 7 and  
- Microsoft Developer Tools   
- Microsoft .NET Framework   
- Microsoft Office (Visio 2003, 2007 and 2010)   
- Microsoft Windows OS (XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008 (& R2), 7)

Eight out of the thirteen updates (which are for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems) will require restarts in order for them to become effective.
