The Technology

NRS itself is built as a hybrid momentum Proof of Stake/Proof of Work - NoirShares is one of the first hybrid Momentum PoS/PoW cryptos. The momentum algorithm has memory hard qualities which reduce GPU mining advantages, changing difficulty almost instantly as hashrate changes, thereby accurately reflecting miner demand.  NoirShares also runs a self-maintaining blockchain that does not need many hard forks to keep it going. What all this basically means is that NoirShares is running the latest in coin hashing tech with the most efficiency and stability, laying the foundation for a truly effective DAC.

The Specifications

• Doubles as both currency and equity for Noir Group.
• 80 shares per block initially
• 5 minute block time
• Per block difficulty adjustment
• 5 million coins will be produced via PoW
• 5% block reward reduction every 3000 blocks
• 3% stake, minimum stake age is 7 days, full age 14 days
• Transaction fees at 0.01 NRS are destroyed in an attempt at aggressively countering inflation due to mining and stake
• As the chain progresses and transitions to relying more on PoS blocks, it becomes highly energy efficient in comparison to pure PoW coins.

TL;DR ? - Simply put, NRS is to stocks what Bitcoin is to money. It's a bit more complicated than that, but for now it's a good way to think about it. Many crypto "coins" generate value through increase in price and supply. NoirShares are revenue-generating ownership shares in DAC/DAS softwares built by the Noir Group and others, which can also be useful in similar ways to other crypto "coins". Noir Group is pioneering decentralized internet-based corporation and software with NoirShares. Noir Group is an experiment in decentralized corporation, existing on the internet and around the world. Buying NoirShares is your way to gain ownership of the various DACs and Softwares, and Digital Assets offered by the Noir Group, similar to how you would buy stocks of your favorite companies or other securities!

When it comes to understanding Noir, first you have to understand what is meant with the following;

- PoW: Proof of Work. This is "mining" with Hashes
- PoS: Proof of Stake. This is "mining" through Interest. Energy friendly.
- DAC: Distributed Autonomous Corporation

This last one really deserves some more discussion - it is new to me

DACs run without any human involvement under the control of an incorruptible set of business rules. Bitcoins can be viewed as a small “share” of the total market cap of the Bitcoin “corporation”.   

The “mining” services that validate transactions and secure the network are paid for in new bitcoins that slowly dilute the “stock” as the corporation’s market cap ebbs and flows.  You can generally trade your shares for other currencies, goods, and services. 

Operating rules for the corporation cannot be changed unless a majority of stakeholders vote for them by switching to another version of the software.  Interestingly, it is not the holders of existing shares that get to make this decision, but only those “employees” who are contributing their computer resources (mining bots) to run the company.

Edit: an extreme version of this is Heavycoin with its reward voting system, which does not only allow miners to vote on block rewards...

What Core Laws should DACs implement and how would they do it?  Here’s my stake in the ground, with apologies to Dr. Asimov:

Three Laws of Robotics for Distributed Autonomous Corporations

   A DAC must always obey its own published business rules.
   A DAC must never change its rules without consent of its stakeholders, except where such change would conflict with the First Law.
   A DAC must protect its own existence, as long as such protection does not conflict with the first two laws.

Metaphorically, the concept of a Distributed Autonomous Corporation is a helpful way to understand the much greater potential of the technology pioneered by Bitcoin.  By moving from the metaphor of a digital currency to one of an incorruptible unmanned business, revolutionary new entities can be envisioned. Unlike their flesh and blood peers, DACs will be sovereign corporations governed with inhuman integrity.
