Ok, then you can Try disabling manually the On-Access Scanner on VSE's Console, for that you'll have to check the Access Protection Control.
The other way would be a full VSE Reinstall

Have you got true from the problem? If not note that you need to have patch 1 previous installed on an 32bit system and Patch 2 64bit system. Other wise you are not able to install this patch!

Just one important addition: you need at least McAfee Agent 4.8.0.1500 or 5.0.2.188/5.0.2.333. See here:

I had the an older Version and the Patch didn't install. If you need McAfee Agent, you an take a look at the full version of McAfee VSE 8.8 with Patch 6 package. The FramePkg_UPD.exe contains McAfee Agent.

At least this time McAfee Agent isn't included in the patch. With former patches (like Patch 6) McAfee Agent hasn't been upgraded to latest version as I found out on my machines.
