can anybody list out the differences between the two versions, apart from the ones listed on mcafee site ?

Resources required
Virus detection capabilities
Anti Spyware capabilities
Firewall capabilities

It runs on 64bit systems. But I don't know if VSE8.5 maybe also run on a 64bit OS.

I've seen one of my friend using 8.7i on 32bit OS and it works fine
so i don't think its 64bit only

I've been using 8.7i on my main rig, I didn't notice too many differences between 8.5i and 8.7i though.  I did notice however that 8.7i really took up system resources on certain computers (my laptop) especially during start-up or while it autoupdates.  I've uninstalled it since, they fix this in 8.5i?

It adds compatibility with Windows 7, so that will be a big thing once that's officially released (much like how 8.0 wouldn't run in Vista and 8.5 did).

I've been running in on my Win7 machine (64-bit) and haven't had any problems with it yet.

I think you need to have patch 2 for full win 7 compatibility
