In my opinion and experience it's ZoneAlarm: http://www.zonealarm.com

Even Free version is very good. ;)

Well I do like ZoneAlarm and Comodo, but I just wanted to know other peoples opinions on which are good for a public network. Some internet security suites have a firewall and a public network setting for the firewall but they aren't very effective.

The most important thing with Firewalls is proper configuration.  :police:

Here is one old Topic related to ZonaAlarm config.: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,1374.0.html

I do try to configure it to the highest settings, but some internet security suites have either a poor firewall or it lacks important features.

I've tried a few, including McAfee, Eset and a few others. They seem to have basic firewalls unlike actual standalone programs like ZoneAlarm.

I am tested Eset smart security trial with firewall, antispyware and antivirus.Firewall may not have many options as a standalone Firewalls, but in combination with other parts of ESS is very good protection.Thats my experience.

Which ESET version did you try and when??
