From our friend GrR* at tipradar, I found the following excellent tip...

http://botrevolt.com/limited-offer/

Copy Paste:
Bot Revolt is giving away 1,000 free licences of the current version 1.4.2 to Gizmo’s dedicated users. We thought you would be happy to get an opportunity to test a paid suite against the free security software out there.*

What's Bot Revolt?

Bot Revolt is malware connection detection software for Windows. Instead of scanning your files for signs of infections, Bot Revolt monitors active Internet connections. It checks to see where processes from your computer are connecting to, to which IP addresses and it then compares detected IP address with its list of malicious IP addresses, blocking connections that are in fact malicious, created by malware and viruses.

What makes Bot Revolt different?
The power is in the list! Bot Revolt gets stronger every day. In fact, we use a blocklist of over 1 billion bad IP addresses, and we add over 3,000 malicious IP's every day. IP’s include know malware, spyware, zero day threats, scam and spam attack sites.

Already have an anti-virus?
Great! So do we. Bot Revolt is compatible with any other anti-virus you may have. Bot Revolt monitors program installation, registry & file changes, keyboard & mouse control, and other potentially dangerous behaviors in ways anti-viruses cannot.

A New and Improved Peerblock?
Yes- The latest Stable Release of Peer Block 1.1 was in 2010. A lot has changed since then! Bot Revolt is more stable and scans faster. Here are a few changes we have made:
UI (the major change)
Run on system startup under Win64
Multi-platform installer (including Windows XP compatibility)
List manager extension

We have also included very fast layer that is known as ATL, changed some code that makes string conversion and replaced it by system routines; all of these make running Bot Revolt more efficiently on new platforms such as Windows 7/8.

Although Bot Revolt limits updating on its free version, you still get access to the same protection of peerblock along with less bugs, faster scans, run-on-startup, and a new look!
For more information visit: http://www.botrevolt.com

For tech support call: (855)403-7756

* The 1,000 free licences are valid for one full year, and will be issued strictly in order of applications received. Your licence key does not have to be activated within a given time period.

*Email Policy*
We are collecting your email in order to send you a secure download with a unique coupon code. We use mailchimp for our email service and follow all email policy. Your email will never be shared with a 3rd party, We hate spam

(end copy paste)

Sure sounds interesting enough. Follow the countdown here:

Most certainly it works!!

It's a restart / follow-up / spin-off of Peerblocker, which wasn't supported or compatible anymore.

It is NOT a network sniffer or analyzer! It is an IP blocker. Rude but effective ; -) The basis still is supported though (but often commercial): filter list. There are plenty of them going around. Just go to iblocklist.com.

If you want, you can almost completely block yourself from "the internet run by commercial ones or really bad guys". Not that internet would be fun that way, but you can. Just pick the correct lists. DO NOT CHOSE THEM ALL! REALLY, DON'T!

In the old day, people would do this with dynamically generated host files, but... A big hosts file WILL really SLOW your internet browsing to a CRAWL. Also see: http://goo.gl/KLrgWh .

By default Bot Revolt comes with 6 (combined) lists:
- malware
- spyware
- scams/spam
- bitcoin bandits (new to me)
- Your Privacy
- Bot Revolt List (exclusive to... BotRevolt ;p)
- Any list from iblocklist.com. These are the free ones I've chosen there: bluetack dshield + hijacked. I might finetune this later. I think all the important free lists are already added in a pull-down menu for your convenience...

Screenshots: https://app.box.com/s/4mdfq3695ptj9uiywwaa

For the program itself: all is there.

Some room for improvement: better descriptions for the list available (goes for iblocklist mainly).

Also it is unclear (without testing) what the Port Settings tab does. 80,443 + 21 + 25 + 110 are mentioned. You can add custom ones.

Also I do not know what "Incognito" actually does (or should do). No time  to test now - but get the license while you can! You will want it (and it's still active! :)

In general: the program is there, but in the details some usability tweaking wouldn't be bad. For example: the key has to be typed manually... Copy pasting the whole key isn't possible. Little things like that...

They do get my Karma!!!

Questions to ask the developers...

1. (suggestion) you already have included some lists from iblocker.com. Great! But how about a description? Because even their site does not tell us much - this is where you could differentiate yourselves!
2. what does the Ports tab do? What is it's function?
3. what does Incognito / Private Browsing Enabled do? And why is it crossed out when you enable the function?  ???
4. I see Microsoft and even Avast blocked! I understand Microsoft (but I do not agree), but blocking Avast...?? That ain't right! I tried to find the list blocking them... And that brings me to the next suggestion;
5a. (suggestion) when blocking, also log / show the list responsible for that, OR
5b. (suggestion) enable a search through all filters (IP AND name based!)
6. (suggestion) white list not only on IP, but also on IP-nets (like 190.180.0.0) and even more important: white list ON NAME! Microsoft and Avast have many IP's, as it turns out.
7. I think I noticed some download and page errors when filtering was enabled. BUT when disabling (and loading the page/download) and then disabling again I could not reproduce it. This must be a bug that makes it look like the websites themselves are at fault.
Example?
The download after registering here: http://www.avast.com/get/6gQyTmY1 . I had more hiccups. Which I hadn't before Bot Revolt. The logs show Avast etc being blocked. Not good. Especially after disable / enable, Bot Revolt should block again!*
8. the website mentions that BR works as a two way firewall. I have absolutely NO idea how that would work... I just don't see it!  :o

Still karma and get it while you can... It's an early version and I'll repost any answers I receive!

How do I know Bot Revolt is working?

Open up a command prompt (Start -> Run -> "cmd"), and run the command "ping 3.0.0.0".

This ip-address (3.0.0.0) is owned by General Electric, and should be blocked by the "p2p" list by default.

If Bot Revolt is operating correctly, this ping command should return "General failure" (on Windows Vista/7; "Destination host unreachable" on XP) and the UI should show this access as Blocked; if Bot Revolt is not working, the ping command should return "Request timed out" and the Bot Revolt UI will show this access as Allowed (if the "Show allowed connections" checkbox in the Bot Revolt's settings panel is checked)

Convenient ;p

Did you try Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V "trick" ?!

I'm afraid that it'll sooner or later block legitimate services... wait a minute, it's already done it:

Still no response on  my questions, but the problems with legit sites being blocked appear to be over. I have all included lists activated plus two from iblocklist: dshield and hijacked.

I will not comment on suggesting ctrl v to me... Really??  :o

Two firewall makes sense, but this program has no firewall; only IP blocking. So I think it is a very bold statement to make. True, it has a port blocking tab. I guess to answer my previous post: ports added there will be blocked. Incoming ànd outgoing. But to call that a firewall... Little primitive, if all has to be done manually. You could do this better at your router...?

That's about it for now - I still definitely advise you to grab a license and install the program. It does NOT slow your system!

Suggesting ctrl c...
