Why can't a conventional PC based anti-virus software be used to clean USBs?Often it is too late to use conventional anti-virus software to disinfect infected USB flash drives. Because many viruses easily infect pre-installed anti-virus software in PCs, those anti-virus systems are ultimately rendered ineffective.
Information Week reported, “In the past two years, 70% of businesses have traced the loss of sensitive or confidential information to USB flash memory sticks. While such losses can occur when the devices get lost or stolen, 55% of those incidents are likely related to infected devices that introduced malicious code onto corporate networks.”
