Is this FW still required if one has Mcafee Virusscan Enterprise 8.8?
I mean one can definitely use the VSE to block ports manually..

I still use them

but it's one outdated product...

The current version is Host Intrusion Prevention System 8

it seems that McAfee Desktop Firewall 8.5 is not supported by windows 7. i used it on windows xp but now on 7 i can't. any solution?

There's none, since desktop Firewall is way too old, and therefore unsupported. For Windows 7, you should upgrade to HIPS 8.0
